[ he also gets followed into said underground labs by another sleepless superhero using stealth. but he still knocks on the door because it's only polite. ]

[he steps away from the doorway so Steve can come in. There's an iPad speaker and music playing (punk rock), Tony's suit is standing in a corner, and there are a bunch of electronics on the table. The room is not very furbished, but the place is well illuminated and it definitely looks more used than it should be, considering they haven't been in camp for long]

[ he shuts the door behind him while making a slight face at the music ]

[seems really puzzled by this turn of events. After a couple of seconds he shrugs]

I'm making a simple robot, single arm, not very smart. I'm thinking I can get a proper workshop up and running in... a month? Maybe two. A bit of a pain without JARVIS at full capabilities, but it could be worse.

[ going over to the table to poke at things ]

How smart is not very smart?

Follow a handful of basic commands at first— don't break anything.

[ calmly ] I'm not going to break anything.

[unsure of how to proceed. Folds his arms, looking at him]

[ shrugs ]

I hadn't really thought about it. You twenty-first century types always need a feeling for doing what you do.

[he's gonna go back to what he was doing. STILL VERY CONFUSED]

[ he will just wander around and look at everything. ]

[he has computers, his phone is on a table somewhere, there are probably games if Steve feels like playing. After a few minutes without anything catastrophic happening, Tony seems to forget that Steve is there and starts muttering to himself about circuits and processors]

[ after he does a thorough perimeter of the room the tone of his inspection changes, as though he's looking for something in particular.

not that Tony will necessarily notice. ]

[too into whatever he's doing to notice Steve's nosiness. At one point he jolts and swears under his breath]

[ quickly looks at him to see what that's about ]

[he seems to have electrocuted himself. Nothing serious, he's shaking his hand and glaring at a bunch of wires, still totally oblivious to Steve's presence]

JARVIS whenever I get you back running properly, you're taking the blame for this.

[ resuming his search ]
